Op donderdag 12 maart houdt Hilde de Bruijn, artistiek directeur Into Nature, de Masterclass “Hoe schrijf je een artist statement” in CAMPIS.
Het doel van de workshop is om te kijken naar manieren om je praktijk te communiceren en je eigen artist statement te verfijnen. Samen met Hilde de Bruijn duik je in de wereld van diverse artist statements. Hoe zien statements van anderen eruit? Wat past bij jouw eigen praktijk? Je krijgt feedback op je huidige statement en gaat (een begin maken met) het herschrijven ervan.
Hilde de Bruijn is een curator in internationale hedendaagse kunst met ongeveer 25 jaar ervaring. Sinds januari 2022 is zij artistiek directeur van Into Nature. In de loop der jaren heeft ze gewerkt als onafhankelijk curator en voor verschillende instellingen, waaronder Museum Cobra, (het voormalige) SMART Project Space, Piet Zwart Institute en BAK – basis voor actuele kunst. Ze heeft met tal van kunstenaars samengewerkt aan nieuwe opdrachten, solotentoonstellingen, groepstentoonstellingen, publicaties, performances en allerlei andere formats. Ze heeft gastcolleges gegeven en lezingen gehouden bij (selectie) Biënnale van Athene; Artez, Arnhem; CCS Bard College, New York; Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem; Rietveld Academie en het Statens Museum, Kopenhagen. Ze was adviseur hedendaagse kunst voor de gemeenten Utrecht en Aalsmeer, evenals voor het Mondriaan Fonds en het Nederlands Filmfonds.

CAMPIS | Platform for Contemporary Art is een platform waarin tijd, perceptie en reflectie centraal staan. Noordenaars is een netwerk van beeldende kunstpodia, ontwikkelinstellingen en productiehuizen in Drenthe, Groningen en Friesland. Samen organiseren zij het talentprogramma Artist in Space en activiteiten voor beeldend kunstenaars om elkaar en kunstpodia in het Noorden te ontmoeten en kennis te delen. Dit programma is onderdeel van de reeks praktische masterclasses En nu? Praktisch kunstenaarschap na de academie en wordt financieel mogelijk gemaakt door het Mondriaan Fonds, het Pictoright Fonds en We The North.
On Thursday, March 12, Hilde de Bruijn, Artistic Director of Into Nature, will give the Masterclass “How to Write an Artist Statement” at CAMPIS.
The goal of the workshop is to have a look at ways to communicate your practice and refine your own artist statement. Together with Hilde de Bruijn you will dive into the world of diverse artist statements. What do statements from others look like? What would suit your own practice? You will get feedback on your current statement and will (make a start to) rewrite it.
Hilde de Bruijn is a curator in international contemporary art with around 25 years of experience. She is the Artistic Director of Into Nature since January 2022. Over the years she has worked as an independent curator as well as for various institutions, including Museum Cobra; (former) SMART Project Space; Piet Zwart Institute and BAK – basis voor actuele kunst. worked with numerous artists on new commissions, solo exhibitions, group shows, publications, performances and all kinds of other formats. She has guest lectured and gave talks at (selection) Athens Biennial; Artez, Arnhem; CCS Bard College, New York; Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem; Rietveld Academy and the Statens Museum, Copenhagen. She was an advisor in contemporary art for the municipality of Utrecht and Aalsmeer, as well as for the Mondriaan Fund and the Netherlands Film Fund.
